The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Process payments in Japan into UK account?
Hi - I have purchased a Japanese kiosk so I can accept YEN payment. My account is UK based with a UK sterling bank account. Can I set-up the Japan terminal as an additional LOCATION to accept YEN payments and be paid into UK account?
Hi @LODGEN76,
Thank you for reaching out with your question.
Currently, Square does not support processing payments in multiple currencies. Transactions are processed in the currency of your country of activation, and any currency conversion is handled by the customer's bank. For more details on accepting international payments with Square, please visit our Support Centre.
Additionally, it's important to note that you must be located in the country where you activated your Square account to process payments. This means that if you have a UK Square account, all payments must be processed in the UK. Similarly, if you had a Japanese Square account, all payments on that account would need to be processed in Japan.
Square's hardware is designed and certified to comply with regulations specific to each country. As a result, it is only approved for use in the country for which it was intended. Due to these country-specific regulations, we do not anticipate this policy changing in the future. Therefore, if you purchased the Kiosk from the Japanese Square Shop, I recommend returning it as soon as possible, as it won't work in the UK.
I'm sorry I couldn't provide a more favourable solution. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
