Can I accept payments in Ireland if I’m a UK resident

Hello,

im

based in the UK but heading to Ireland to do one day trading. Does anyone know if I can accept payments on reader in euros or does it have to be pounds?

 

all help appreciated

Hi @Bloominlovely3 👋 thanks for your post. 

 

Unfortunately, you won't be able to accept payments with Square while in Ireland. 

Cross-border card payments are unsupported. This means that card transactions attempted outside of the country where you activated your Square account can’t be processed with the Square Reader.

 

Additionally, due to compliance with country-specific regulations, Square’s hardware is only approved for use in the country for which it is intended. If you try to use your Reader issued in the UK in Ireland, it will likely damage the Reader and you won't be able to use it in the UK when you return.
