Attach subscription service to a product listing

We sell GPS tracking devices and our customers subscribe to an ongoing service we call Airtime (we have x4 different Airtime subs).

My question is, can we attach a subscription to a product listing as a modifier?

If not, how would you recommend we do this, please?

I'm not sure if there is a direct way to do this, but I'd be happy to test it out. 

 

How do you sell the GPS devices? Is it online or in-person and if it's online what is your current fulfilment method? Pickup/Shipping, etc? 

 

We have an option to create Digital Items which is what we would recommend for the digital subscriptions but that would remove the fulfiment type for your physical item, which is why I'd like to test here.

Thank you for your response, we sell our GPS trackers online and ship them out to customers via DHL

I have already set up the subscriptions, they work fine as stand-alone items.

We don't seem able to pair them to a tracker to go through the online payment process together.

Payment seems limited to either a product or subscription, not both.

 

I did look at the Digital Items, do you think it would go through payment with a product? (GPS tracker)

 

I am looking to improve our online customer experience by combining the items rather than giving a customer options to add.

Thank you for the follow-up, @Nortrak. Unfortunately, I didn't find a direct way to include both a physical item (and a subscription in a single item for the online payment process. As of now, they would need to be processed as separate items.

 

While Digital Items could be an option, they are typically used for items that can be delivered electronically, like files or access to online content. For a combination of physical and subscription items, it's recommended to process them as separate transactions. Or including them as one item but then requesting the customer's details for the digital sale in the physical sale (via text-box modifier possibly) and then manually sending out the digital item.
