Apple Pay Fraud

So How can we prevent apple pay fraud.  One of my friends who owns a store was a victim of Apple pay fraud.  Customer pay with apple pay. Out $2500.00. There is no option t0 ask for identification, or pin.  When I use my apple pay at a gas station or target or Publix it either ask for a pin or zip code.  Does anyone know?

Aside from Apple's security measures, I'm not really sure if there is much you can do.  If its in store payments, possibly have cameras with good angles.  You could also disable apple pay in our Square settings.
