Is there any updates on being able to change the word “Tips” to “Donation” as we are a non profit? It doesn’t seem like changing one word to be customizable is such a big ask. I see so many other users asking the same thing; I’ve been asking and checking back for years. Square is way behind on this technology so many other POS systems offer. I love Square except for this issue, and really don’t want to have to look for another system. This is so important.
Hello @Sandycappelli I appreciate you reaching out and understand your business need for request. I just want to confirm you want a donation option on the point-of-sale app, We do offer donation options through our checkout links and online but at this time, there is no option to customize tips to donations.
We have made changes to our feature request process in an attempt to streamline and organize these requests better. I suggest submitting this request to our Ideate Board. I understand that it might be difficult waiting for something to be built out and greatly appreciate your patience. You should feel empowered to do what is best for your business and we understand that you will.
But I really don’t feel empowered at all. It seems like it falls on deaf ears.
@Sandycappelli is right, this upgrade would impact so many Square businesses but is has not advanced from the bottom of the priority list with the Product Team. How can we increase awareness for this? I doubt Square will/would send a survey to business owners inquiring if this upgrade would be worthwhile.
Square, this is a very important update to make. It's been requested since 2016 by many retailers. I believe Shopify can do it. Why can we not change the word "Tip" to "Donation"? There is no need to change the functionality, just the word. By giving your retailers the ability to change this word, you make it easy for them to support meaningful causes near and dear to their missions.
This inquiry appears to have been ignored by Square.
Completely agree with this request. Tipping has a bad name these days. Hoping the minor change makes it clear to customers the extra money is going to the cause, not the person.
