I am setting up a page in my POS on my iPad titled "ornaments." On that page I want to add one ornament from a vendor that I have 15 ornaments from. When I choose the item to add to the page, it is added, but all it is is a "quick" key to a smaller window where I have to scroll through all the ornaments, find the ornament I want, choose add to cart, and then start over again for Ornament #2. How do I make an individual "quick key" for each ornament variation? Hunting and pecking for each will cause delays during customer checkout.
Thank you, I was afraid of that, lol.
If I separate them into individual items, and want to print labels, each separate item prints the word "Regular" along with the item name - and it's added automatically; the only way I could get rid of that was to make variations. I understand now that I have to have individual items for the grid, so how do I remove "Regular" from the item name on the labels?
@loboyle Ah, Regular! I’d forgotten about that and how long it took me to find it when I was new to Square. 😏
When you are editing your item in Dashboard, to the right of Variations section is “Edit variation details.” Click on that. Then just delete the word “Regular” and click Done, then Save the item. If you want to verify that it is indeed gone, click “Edit variation details” again and you’ll see it is no longer there.
For items with only one variation, Square has always defaulted to Regular. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
Let me know if you need anything else.
Hi @loboyle. Currently with Square you can not have a separate key for each variation. The only way to do that would be to have each ornament be its own item. If what you have now is:
Ornament (item)
and if you want a separate grid key for each variation, you’ll need to not use variations, and rather set up 15 items named “Ball Ornament, “Star Ornament,” and so on. There is currently no way to do what you are trying to do with any Square POS.
