text message marketing SHAFT help

My account won’t let me send text messages because it says i am flagged for SHAFT, I do not sell or have anything like that in my shop or on my account. I need to use text messages for marketing, not emails and need this fixed.

Hey there @madisyne05.. You forgot to say what you DO sell.  There are things that the cell carriers flag that are not spelled out in the acronym -- medications that are not OTC meds, for example, would violate SHAFT.

I don’t sell any medications either. I am a cosmetologist and only sell Retail for hair, nails, facials, and waxing. That is it. And the only services I perform are those that I just listed.

@madisyne05 Thanks for the clarifications.  One more thing before I tag the Square Moderators for some assistance.  When you say Square won't let you send text messages, does that mean you have a Square assigned phone number, or will it not even let you get that?  I assume you can't even get one of those, and that THIS is where you are getting that message.  But it would help to know.

It would not approve me for the toll free number and that is where the message came from. Then telling me I would not be able to send text messages through marketing.

I figured as much, but wanted to be sure.  Ok, I'm tagging the moderators.  Maybe they can help.  If you don't mind, please reply with the URL of your website and/or online store.  Hopefully the moderators can help you get past this after consulting with the team.  SHAFT screening can sometimes be wrong and when it is, it usually requires manual investigation and resolution.  Don't be surprised, though, if the moderators tell you that you must contact support.  This is an account-level issue and the moderators sometimes don't have the access into your account that is needed for resolution.  Good luck!
