manage inventory in one place with multiple pickup options

Goal

  • Track inventory only at 1 “master” location (e.g. FORK it).

  • Customers can still choose pickup at Farmshop or Launceston.

  • Inventory reduces only at the master, so no manual balancing.

I have configured Items as follows;

  1. Go to Square Dashboard → Items → Item Library.

  2. Edit each variation of your item.

  3. For your Master location (FORK it):

    • Turn Tracking ON.

    • Enter the real stock count.

  4. For all other pickup locations (Farmshop, Launceston):

    • Leave Tracking OFF.

    • Stock will display as “N/A” (that’s correct).

    • Make sure the “Available at” box is ticked so it shows online

However, my stock is not reducing as customers purchase.

Hi @forkitf.. I'm assuming that you are asking for help regarding that last sentence in your post.  If so......

Square is not currently designed for shared multi-location inventory.  In other words, the only way of which I am aware to do this is the manual one.  That would involve running a daily report on each of your locations that have tracking turned off, then manually adjusting inventory for the one that you have set up as your shared inventory location.  I looked at the product roadmap and currently do not see any planned changes to this functionality.  I'd recommend that you go to the Feature Requests board.  First, search for "multi-location" and such to find an existing feature request you can upvote and add comments to. Or, if you want, you can submit your own, but keep in mind that the moderators will probably merge yours with others so that the product team has a better picture of how many sellers want this.

Otherwise, a question.  Do you actually need multiple Square locations?  Or do you just need multiple pickup points?  If the latter is true, you could create a modifier set called "Pickup Location" that contains all of those, then attach it as a required modifier set for all existing items in your catalog.  Of course, customers would have to select a pickup location for all items added to the cart, but your inventory would always be correct.

That's pretty much all I can think of right now.
