close of day report font too small

Recently, my close of day report and my shift reports started printing with very tiny font. I have been troubleshooting with Square on the phone, Apple on the phone, and the printer manufacturer with no success. I feel it relates to a recent update. The guest checks from the printer is printing normal. The self test for printer works perfectly. The print test from the Square app prints perfectly. It is only the two listed reports. I can not find any place to adjust the font size for these reports.

Hey there 👋

Oh no, the dreaded “ant-sized font” problem 😅—I’ve seen this pop up before, and you’re right: it usually sneaks in after an update. Since your guest checks, test prints, and everything else look normal, it’s almost definitely not the printer itself—it’s how Square is formatting those specific reports.

A couple of things you can try while Square irons this out:

  1. Double-check your app version – Make sure you’re on the very latest Square POS app. If the issue started after an update, sometimes a quick bug fix update follows soon after.

  2. Log out & back in – Sounds basic, but I’ve seen it reset report formatting before.

  3. Try a different device – If you have another iPad/phone handy, log into Square there and run the same report. If it prints normally, it’s device-specific.

  4. Workaround – In the meantime, you can export your Close of Day and Shift reports from the Dashboard online—they’ll be normal size there, and at least you’ll have something readable while the print bug gets fixed.

Since you’ve already been through Square + Apple + printer support, I’d lean toward this being a Square software quirk. You’re definitely not the only one—it usually means a patch is on the way.

Hang in there! At least your guest checks are still full-size and not making your staff squint at every order 😂

Thank you @Stacelyn24 for this awesome explanation. Usually when these things happen, a patch comes out soon. I recommend following the workarounds provided above.
