Why does barcode scan find archived items?

Has anyone else had this issue?   We have archived items that contain a SKU number.   We have re-used that SKU number in a new item.  During checkout, when scanning the barcode for this item, Square finds BOTH the active and the archived item.   I think it should only find the active item.  You can't purchase an archived item.  Is this a bug?

@salescvilleartsBelow is from Square. Also when you put the same SKU in the new item, you didn't get an alert that you were using a duplicate SKU?

When you archive an item in Square, it is removed from the active item list in your Point of Sale (POS) app and Square Online store. This means it won't appear in your regular item library or be available for sale during standard checkout.

However, archived items are not entirely hidden from the POS system. They can still be accessed in specific scenarios:
• Barcode Scanning: If you scan the barcode of an archived item using a compatible barcode scanner or the camera on your iOS device, the item will appear in the POS app. You'll receive a prompt to unarchive the item to proceed with the sale.
• Inventory Management: Archived items can be viewed and managed within the Square Dashboard by applying the "Archived" filter in the Items library. This allows you to review and unarchive items as needed.
• Transactions and Reports: Archived items may still appear in historical transaction records, reports, and saved shopping carts, ensuring that past sales data remains intact.
