Square has made a mess of online viewing of orders. By orders I mean an ORDER placed either online, in person, or over the phone, for a future pie that they will pick up either at our store or at a farmers market. Square has two ways to look at order using a computer (not the POS). One is in the Dashboard as an overview of orders. Here you can look at orders and sort them by various criteria, Customer, Order, Type, Location, Order Date, Fulfillment Date, Status. In the Dashboard view, there is no way to PRINT the order. The other way is the Online view, with headings of Order#, Order Date, Customer, Items (only one line), Type, Status, Total. Note that the Online view does NOT have location or fulfullment date.
What we need to do is print an 8.5X11 sheet for every order going to a farmers market for the coming weekend. On the Dashboard view I can sort the orders by their fulfillment date. The orders for the coming weekend I mark IN PROGRESS so we know we have them covered. THEN I have to go to the Online view to print them. Since the two screens cannot be sorted in the same way, I have to flip back and forth for each order until I get down the Dashboard view to the Completed orders. This didn't used to be the case.
On top of all of this, orders taken on the POS and put into the order system are not viewable in the Online view. This means they cannot be printed AT ALL. And, since the Dashboard view cannot be exported (!!!!), if I export the Online view, the POS orders are NOT in the spreadsheet. Not to say that the Square/Weebly export is actually a useful tool. It's every field in the system, so it's so full of noise that the time it takes to get rid of all the fields you don't want to see so that it is a printable report is not worth the trouble, even with macros doing most of the work. I could spend another page just outlining why their exported data is so crazy.
We have been using Square for years, but as our business expands and we have more ordering streams and lots more orders, it is becoming cumbersome. We have decided to use OrderNova to handle our Thanksgiving orders. The reason being that OrderNova can give us actual production reports and order reports that contain useful information. It is hard to believe that Square does not offer ANY ORDER REPORTS. We need to know how many pies are needed for any given day, and a list of orders by location for fulfillment. Square just doesn;t do that.
But I am really irritated that Square messed up the order screens in such a way that not I have to flip between two screen just to print a few orders. And that I can't print some orders at all.
