UberEats Integration Tax Category

Hello! I sell Cold Non Carbonated Beverages in California (i.e Tea)

which the CDFTA mentioned is Tax Exempt sold TOGO. I even saw this instagram post from the CDFTA mentioning

https://www.instagram.com/p/C_MWaNbNau-/

I noticed when I migrated my UberEats to the new integration that there is Sales Tax being charged. There isn't anyway to specify the category so that Uber knows to remove the Sales Tax. I believe Uber calculates the Sales Tax based on the category provided and they used to allow us to select Non Carbonated Beverage.

On Square right now you can just specify its Tax Exempt to not charge tax but is isn't taking in effect for Uber

Hey there, @KayTeaStudio -

Thank you for bringing this question over to the Community.

When it comes to integrations, the first steps we recommend is to check with the other side of the integration. We cannot see their side of the integration, so it's easier to start there.

Once you hear their side, we can dig in our end.

I will keep an eye out for your reply👀.

I’ve chatted with Uber Eats Support they said that this is a Square Integration and should be handled by Square.

After adding the Square integration the menu option is disabled so you cannot go into the Uber Menu since all of that is sync’d through Square

Hi, I'm having the same issue with the new UberEats integration with Square. If UberEats is still collecting and remitting sales tax on delivery orders that's facilitated through its platform as required by law, then the gross amount recorded in Square's sales reports should exclude the UberEats sales tax. Right now, it doesn't look like that's happening, which is leading to sales tax being double-booked.

As of now, I'm having to manually adjust my company's sales tax liability amount every month to account for UberEat's sales tax that they've already collected and remitted internally. Is there any updates on this or a working solution that's more effective than what I'm currently doing? Thank you in advance for any advice.
