Split cart/tickets in Square Retail

I am super surprised to see that I can't (or maybe I don't know how) split a cart or ticket into separate ones, especially because this feature is working on Square POS with open ticket and Square Restaurant.

I need to choose a POS system for an upcoming business and Retail with inventory management would be perfect only if I can split my cart or have consolidated inventory features in Square for restaurant.

With Square for Retail, How are you trying to split the Purchase?

1. If you mean by multiple Payment methods you can after pressing Tender.
2. If you mean by Items, I just ring up Items for Purchase A, then take Payment.  Then I repeat the process if its another customer for the next purchase.

If you explain how your trying to split a payment for Retail someone might be able to explain it in more detail.

Square for Retail has a Saved Cart feature which is similar from my understanding as Resturants saved Tickets. 

I still am unclear on what your trying to accomplish with the Saved cart/ Saved Ticket funstion on How you want to split the ticket / cart?

From the Saved Cart in Retail you can open the Saved Cart, then edit the Opened cart and then press Tender.  On the Next screen you can spit the $ amount of the ticket between different payment methods.  Right now as far as I am aware of there is no way in eiter system to split the Ticket by Items.  I think there might be talks of this in the future but not currently.

You’re right, it is similar but you can’t split by item like in Square POS or Restaurant.

If a table wants to have separate checks to all benefit from clients account for loyalty and pay separately, it is not possible.

Sounds like the ticket splitting function of Square for Restaurants might be best for you in case a table would like to pay separately. 

Are there specific inventory functions of Retail that you are looking for?

All of our point-of-sale options will allow you to manage your inventory, but Retail does have specific functions that you might prefer. If this is the case, let us know which functions you're looking for so we can find some workarounds for you. 

The tips @Candlestore shared here would be helpful if you decide to go with Retail, but we would need some more details about your goal so we can better assist.
