Salon Owner need help square for retail

I just started using the new square for retail ordered the handheld. Like it so far. However, how can I just ring up an amount for hair services and it not go straight to just retail? When I had just the small square it would just show up numbers to punch in amount. I can't seem to be able to just do that now.

@Nellieo2 Just to clarify- you were previously using an app on your phone and you’ve now switched to the handheld terminal? 
Were you using square for retail on your phone as well? Or were you using square POS app?

Create an item call it Cut.... keep it short less typing.   Fill in all the Information for the New item of Cut except for the Price, then every time you scan or search for Cut, a pop up will appear for you to enter a $$ amount.  I am not sure which device you are using but this is what I do for a few items in my store that do not need to be counted or reordered.  I have Barcodes for Wholesale and Miscellaneous next to my checkouts that we scan for entering the $$ amount of the item the person is buying. In the search field I can also type Wholesale or miscellaneous and it will ask for the item price.  This is why I said keep the text short if you can not use a barcode to pull this up.  I did notice on my Android device it has a Keypad Tab at the top but I am not sure if this is available on the device you are using since I use Android Cell phones and Square Stands with the Ipads.  Since it is Thanksgiving I am not at the store to check my Ipad devices screen.
