Sales Tax Pass-Through

I need a way to charge my local sales tax on some items and to have the calculator function for others. I sell both items that I don't have nexus for, and (direct sales) items that I have already paid sales tax on. I would like to charge my customers that same sales tax as a "pass-through" - but I can't figure out how to set that up in Square Online Store... short of changing the price of all the items to include the tax, which would hinder sales as prices are regulated.  Any ideas?

Hi @poshpiper thanks for posting and welcome to the Seller Community! You can definitely have multiple taxes applied to items, but as you said, you cannot have them automatically applied some of the time and not for others. If you want to have a conditional tax for just your online store, you will need to include it in your item cost or have a separate set of items just for those taxes. 

I hope this makes some sense, but please let me know if I can clarify at all.

Thank you @AshleyK ! It does for the most part! I'm just not sure what you mean by the last part - to "have a separate set of items just for those taxes"? How would I go about that?

@poshpiper you would have to duplicate your items and offer one of the duplicated items on the online store only and one in the physical location only. This would allow you to have separate taxes for each one consistently, but would make your inventory difficult to track.

@AshleyK  Ahh ok, I see. However if we are selling in the online store only, via email blasts, this wouldn't work, correct? We would need our customers to have access to shop all the things since that's the purpose :).

Any idea on if there's any sort of fix for this in the works?
