Returns

Why is it when someone makes a purchase using a gift card that they empty the amount and dispose of the card…. Then a few weeks later they need to make a return. The only refund options is the original form of payment…meaning the gift card they no longer have. Expressed multiple times and no fix. Why do I feel square doesn’t listen.

Hi @irh8515.  While the only refund option is the original form of payment, as I recall you can load the refund amount to ANY gift card.  At least I remember doing that back when I had physical gift cards, which I gave up years ago.  Also, FYI, you can reuse physical gift cards after they are emptied.  I did that all of the time to reduce the expense of ordering new gift cards.

Anyway, have you tried to do a refund to a different physical gift card?  If not, I’d to a test transaction that way — charge it to a house gift card, then return it to a different card.  If that doesn’t work, let me know because I guess something changed and I wasn’t aware of the change.
