I have done everything to get the reader gen2 to connect to Square. There are so many conflicting information out there. And I have taken it out of the box!!!!
So if I go to BT settings on device Square Reader 2050 will show. BUT it will not pair. So I’ve read that you do not connect BT from your settings you have to go into Square. Ok, I go to settings/hardware on Square. All it has is “learn more” so you tap on that. It takes you to the BT settings on Galaxy Tab!! So frustrating. I’ve had this thing for a month no one can get it to connect. HELP!!! Any encouragement for me not to chuck this in the bin will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm sorry about the trouble you're having in pairing your Square reader!
There are a few troubleshooting steps I can recommend to help get things up and running.
Firstly, we recommend ensuring your device is compatible with the Square reader by using the search tool on this page.
Once you've confirmed your device is compatible, follow the below steps.
1. Check if the app needs to be updated (if updates are needed, install and then reopen the app, if not close the app for now).
2. Check for software updates on your device and install them.
3. Reset your reader by pressing and holding the button on the side until you see four red lights flashing, then release the button. Set it aside.
4. Forget the reader from your Bluetooth devices list.
5. Open your Square app and navigate to More > Settings > Hardware > Square Reader.
6. If you see a reader listed on this page already, select it, and then select Forget This Reader. If you don't see a reader, continue to the next step.
7. Select Connect a Reader and follow the prompts on the screen.
8. If you still can't connect, try toggling your internet and Bluetooth off and then on again, and try again. For more in-depth troubleshooting steps, visit our online guide.

I’ve have done all of the above. The problem is in the Square app more/settings/hardware/square reader
it doesn’t show any reader all it has is “learn more”. Then you click on that then it takes you to Bluetooth settings on Tab A8. So if you try and connect to the reader from the A8 settings it finds the device but does not pair. I know you connect through the square app. I’ve done everything to get this to work and nothing works. I have updated all the apps as well and yes it’s charged. The card reader is gen 2 0205. I’ve been on the compatible list it says Samsung Tab A8 is compatible. Have lost too many credit card payments not having this working. The first reader I had I thought it wasn’t working so I got another one and still the same problem. Help!!
