I am running a stand at a show where there are items supplied by two or three suppliers, eg. I have 7 paper trimmers (SKU 06549770) in stock, one supplied by Sam, three from Tracey, two from Melissa and one from me. These have a barcode on them - same item, same barcode, different suppliers. Is there any way of noting at checkout whose trimmer was sold?
Each trimmer has a different coloured price sticker to distinguish whose trimmer it is.
Hi @chuckieburnz, welcome to the Square Community! Thanks for writing to us with your question!
This is a great question, and a very practical one for events!
Square doesn’t currently support assigning multiple suppliers to the same product SKU in a way that allows you to track which supplier’s unit was sold at checkout. Since all the trimmers share the same barcode and SKU, Square treats them as one unified inventory item without supplier-level visibility.
The best workaround would be to create separate versions of the same item in your item library, for example:
Paper Trimmer (Sam)
Paper Trimmer (Tracey)
Paper Trimmer (Melissa)
Manually selecting the correct version at checkout, based on the sticker colour, is likely the most reliable way to track sales by supplier in your transaction and sales reports.
I hope this helps!
