Hi all-
The lack of a low/ out of stock alert at POS has already been discussed here. It looks like they may have made an update, though I can't get any clarification from Square. After our most recent update, we now get out of stock alerts at the POS. This is a huge improvement for us. A small bakery that makes all our products each day, we juggle online orders (preorders and day of) and in-store retail orders. We have to manually toggle to item library to check inventory before selling in store to make sure we have enough of an item, as what we see on our shelves may already have been purchased online. It's a pain but works. However, since the most recent update, we now get out of stock alerts at the POS register, which of course makes things so much easier. The only snag is that it only does this for products with variations. For instance, a chocolate croissant will not give us an alert. But our baguettes will, as there are two variations. It's not feasible for us to group everything in larger categories with numerous variations but maybe for others it is. I tried contacting Square about this but didn't get much clarification. I can't figure out why it works for items with variations but not single items. But maybe this will help others out there dealing with same inventory juggling act each day.

The specific feature/effect that you're referring to was one I wasn't aware of. Just to be clear - you're trying to determine whether or not the app is intended to only show low stock alerts for items that have variations?
