Is it possible to track inventory of an item with variations as a whole?

I use Square for Retail and often create new items with 2 variations in order to have Retail Pricing and Staff Pricing of a single item. For tracking inventory is there a way to enter the inventory so that it is tracking based on the item as a whole instead of the individual variations?

At this time, variations will have their own stock if you are tracking stock for the particular item.  I will share this feedback with our product team for their visibility and consideration.

Being able to choose which variations can be tracked under the same number would be an excellent option!
