I love the Inventory Pro feature of being able to sell different packages and track to the same inventory (in my case, we sell single cans of beer as well as in 4 packs). I gladly pay the $60/month for the privilege. The problem is that these packages are not available within the Square POS UI. Why not? The inventory is the same for everything else, and tracks correctly. I was led to believe that this would work from people I chatted with from Square before. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a work around?
I am a brewery that mostly sells draft beer so the tabs buttons for frequently purchased items is the interface I need (the retail app just doesn't work for as at the counter). Please help!
What device are you using with Square?
With Square the UI should be very similar just different things that are enabled depending on your plan and preferences.
Square POS vs Square for Retail : compare-square-for-retail-and-square-point-of-sale
Square for Retail does have a Favorites Button (Tab) you could use.
The feature you are talking about is to sell by Stock Keeping Units SKU or Stock Conversion, which is New to Square and you can learn about it here:New-Retail-Feature-Sell-by-Units-and-Stock-Conversion/ba-p/350755
A work around to keep track of Items that sell by multiple quantities is you could create a Price for Beer A and a discount of if you Buy 4 beers of Beer A there is an automatic discount by % or $ amount.
Hope these help you out.
thanks but this doesn't help.
I use iPads with square stand running Square POS; I have 5 tabs of buttons for everything we sell. I can't have less than this.
I know what the feature is and I pay for it. I just need the package items to be available in Square POS. I don't see why Square POS can't just show the same items as Square Retail (the inventory DOES work and track in both, just not these packages). If they can only be "created" in the Retail app, but would still show in POS app it would be perfect! That way they still get the revenue of me paying for the Inventory Pro features, but I can use the app that works best for me.
In Square for Retail this might be the Favorites. Which you can add Items and Categories to this list. On the Ipad, in Square for Retail it shows Items, Customers, Discounts, Saved Carts.... Under those 4 squares it has Edit Favorites, click that then on the next screen you can choose Add Favorites.... Here you can choose a Category or an Item. When you have all the Items or Categories you want chosen, on the Main checkout screen this will display 6-7 of these.... to see more if you add more in the future you can scroll on these favorites. In the link attached is a quick explanation from Square how to do what I said above. You want to read in the Checkouts - Favorites Section.

If you only have 5 items they should all display right there for easy Tap and add to the Checkout Cart. As you see my Tabs are Fudge to 2X6 Pillars Metal Sign is the only Item the rest are categories to help me find items quickly.
My suggestion is to look at adding Favorites to the Square for Retail and see if these are the Tabs you mean to add... try it after hrs or when it is slow. If these are not what you want just open the Regular Square POS. Its been over 2 yrs since I used just the POS since we now use a barcode scanner which is not available in the POS just Retail.
