Inventory keeps being wrong

Something weird is going on. I keep finding these little discrepancies..at first I just chalked it up to human error. But one item, two items, that's human error. This has been a number of times a week for the last month. I'm sure I make mistakes, but I didn't suddenly forget how to do things in the last month. It's never been like this.

 

I had a customer order 6 of something that I had 0 of. And then I got a call just now saying a different customer couldn't check out but there was no reason why she couldn't. And then she also mentioned she had added an item to her cart that I know was sold out so I went on the website to check and I found a whole bunch of items that are sold out in Square (and they should be) but they're still showing as available or "only 1 remaining" on the site. So then I tried resetting the 0 to 0 in Square POS and then republishing the site but it still showed. 

 

I usually do keep a pretty close eye on inventory and now I'm having to cancel parts of orders because of this. (Or in the case of this one woman, not get the sale at all. And if it's happening to one person, it's happening to others and I only know about this one because she called me to see what was up). 

 

Is anyone else having this problem? How do I fix it?

Hi @_Violet Thanks for letting me know! I was finding discrepancies all over the place which was so confusing because I spend so much time manually monitoring inventory for accurate on hands, expiry dates, etc, that I was starting to wonder if I was slipping haha.

 

Most of what I found was because someone would buy something or I would receive more of something and then figure it out. Anytime I noticed something I fixed it so that customers wouldn't buy something that didn't exist. But what happens to those now? Will it overcorrect since I adjusted it? Conversely, any discrepancy i didn't catch, would they be accurate now? 

 

As for new discrepancies...so much happens every day it's all kind of a blur. But now that I know this, if I notice any from here on out,  I'll make note of them for you. Thanks!
