Inventory Reports - Cost of Goods Sold

I am receiving a message "Some stock adjustments in your inventory history are missing unit costs.  Add missing costs for accurate reports and margins".  I click on "Add Costs" and although many of the items that I am being required to add Unit Cost to already has a Default Cost of the Unit Cost.  Why do I need to go back through thousands of items to add these Unit Costs when they are already there, but for some reason not being recognized.  It seems Square should be able to assist with this, but if this community has any ideas, I am all ears.  Thanks for your assistance.

When you click on add cost is there not an option that pops up and says something like sync to the set default?  I've had this happen sometimes because I saved it at first without a price or vendor and immediately went back in and added it, but when I went to item history that field was empty, but the default price was there so I set it to the default.  I know once I kept getting that message and I went through my items to verify I hadn't missed anything and when I contacted support they were able to go in and remove that message display.
