I can't figure out how to accept credit card payments!

I signed up for Square, followed the steps to setup and verify my account.  I then used Square's website builder to create a website.  I went through each step... but it keeps saying I need to "Verify Identity" to accept payments.  When I click the "Verify Identity" button to signin to Square, it shows I'm signed in but then goes to my dashboard again.  I logged in and checked that my bank account and debit cards were linked and showing verified.  I've been at this HOURS trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Help! Please! lol

Hello @BlovesBling !

First, welcome to Square! You'll find that this is one of the easiest point of sale products out there!

I don't think you're doing anything wrong honestly. When you first sign up with Square (and any merchant processor for that matter), Square will do a verification on their side to make sure you are who you say you are. This process can take a couple business days to complete. I'm pretty sure that all will be ready for you shortly.

If you're still having troubles, you may want to contact customer service since this is an account-specific issue that we really can't get into in an open forum.

Be logged into your Square account then click the link in my signature below.

Click the More Button, then "I don't see my issue". You will get to a screen with your customer code and the phone number/email address to use to reach support.

Happy Selling!

Thank you for the information. I’d actually set up my Square account a few days prior to creating the page. It all said verified, and “you’re all set up to start accepting credit cards,” but it just didn’t seem to like me lol.

It appears to be good now. Thanks for the help!

Hello,

I am having the exact issue mentioned above.

It kept asking me to "verify my identity" on the dashboard and I have done it. Now it pops up a window that says  "I am unable to accept card payments at this time" and seriously don't know what does means. Am I be able to receive payments? Should talk to who/where?

My back account is linked and verified

Thanks,

Welcome back to the Community, @Mayberry1207

I wanted to check in to see if you're still seeing this issue when you try to verify your identity.

If you're still having this issue or unable to take any payments on your account, I am going to recommend reaching out to our CS Team directly: 1-855-700-6000. They will be able to handle something this account specific since we are unable to through the Community.

Thank you for posting!

I’m having the same issue. When I click “verify identity” it reloads and goes right back to my dashboard.

I also just logged in to my online portal and saw the same error.  My site has been online for months processing orders just fine until now. I was not notified about verification being needed. I have been using Square for in person payments for years so this makes no sense to me. I also only get returned to the dashboard when I click the link. On hold now trying to get in touch with customer service... hope they pick up the phone soon.

Update: After a bit of a wait the customer service agent was able to resolve the issue. It was something technical on the backend, I think related to an old email address that was not updated in the system, no fault of my own just an internal error. The number I called was 1-855-700-6000.

I need to accept credit card payments using the numbers, not having the card at hand.
