How to combine tables

Hi fellow Square for Restaurant users.

I have 2-seater tables in my floor that can be joined together to make it a 4-seater table, quite common in a lot of the restaurants I believe.

In this case, how can you quickly combine the tables on the Square for Restaurant app in the Floor Plan?

I have heard about making multiple Floor Plans to toggle around, but this to me is not the most efficient way, as there are many variations of the 2-seater tables to form into larger tables. Capturing all the scenarios will create more than a dozen Floor Plans. So I am trying to figure out how to get by this in another way.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there, @NUIVAN,

That is a great question! At this time, we don't have a feature that will group tables together like that at this time. However, one other workaround we can provide that is not creating multiple floor plans is to make a $0 “table occupied” item and when you have to combine the physical tables, ring up the table occupied item on one of the tables to show it’s in use, and run actual orders on the 2nd table. Please let me know if that helps, or if you have any additional questions about this.

Also, I did notice that this is your first post, so I wanted to say welcome to the Square Community! We are happy to have you here. While you are here, we recommend checking out our Orientation & Etiquette
