I know with Square for Retail I can have Square Generate SKU's for ALL items that do not have a SKU. My Question is, Is there a way I can have Square generate SKU's for a NEW category I just Created or For Items I just Created without it assigning a SKU to Items I want the SKU blank in?
Hello, @Candlestore.
Thank you for providing more details. Having looked into this closely, we can confirm that currently, SKUs are generated for all missing SKUs. We understand that this may not align with your needs, and we acknowledge your request for this to be considered as a feature. Feel free to also take a look at our Auto-generate SKUs with Square for Retail article here.
We value your input, and if you have any further suggestions or concerns, please feel free to share them with us. Your feedback is important, and we are here to assist you in any way we can.
@sayra ;
Thank you for letting me know that I can not do what I wanted to as simply as I wanted to.
Now below are steps I did by Exporting Importing my Square catalog and some copy Paste to accomplish this.
Posting Steps if anyone else is trying to do something similar.
By the way I did see in Square we can now UNDO a catalog import.... that is a nice feature too.
With that being said I did accomplish what I wanted.
1) I exported my catalog before doing anything incase stuff went sideways. 🙂
Renamed this Catalog file as Justincase Sideways
2) Used Square for Retail to generate SKU's for ALL items.
3) Exported catalog again.
Renamed this Skusgeneratedforall
4) Sorted both these open files (Split Screen) by Category
5) Copied SKU from Catagories NFL/MLB into Incasethings gosideways file.... Saved this now as SKUSupdated
6)Uploaded SKUSupdated to Square
Now I have SKU's that were generated by Square for only these 2 categories.
Hi there @Candlestore 👋
I'm happy to help but will need some more detail in order to better understand your question.
Are you wanting to have Square for Retail generate SKUs for only some items in this new category you created while being able to leave others in the category blank without assigning a SKU?
Whenever you have a moment, please reply with a little more information describing your question. I’ll be sure to follow up as soon as possible.
I created 2 new categories and they only have a 4 digit Vendor Code, So I thought for these 2 categories I would leave Square Create SKU's for these items in these 2 categories. Lets Say MLB Mugs and NFL Mugs are my 2 new categories each with say 30 different teams or designs of mugs. BUT I have other items like my Fudge that has no GTIN or SKU and would prefer them without a SKU.
So the answer to this Question would be Yes,
Are you wanting to have Square for Retail generate SKUs for only some items in this new category you created while being able to leave others in the category blank without assigning a SKU? Well Actually all the items in the Category could get a SKU just not all items in my entire 6000 plus Square Catalog.
So all Items in Mugs MLB and in Mugs NFL couldbe assigned a SKU, but I do not want items in category Collectibles assigned a SKU if none is present and the GTIN is also missing.
Hope that clears it up and thank you @_Violet
