Duplicating items used to be a standard feature - it appears to now require a plus membership, is that right? I'm OK with new advanced features only being available with upgrades, but reclassifying standard features doesn't feel right.
Has anything else been reclassified without us knowing?
I don't have a Plus subscription as I am in the same boat as you; I don't need the features that justify the giant price tag.
It works for me if you click into the actual item, then in the top right you click "Actions" and duplicate is there.
If that doesn't work for you, that actually gives me a bit of hope that this is just a wonky bug.
Definitely agree that it seems REALLY underhand to lock features after advertising them under a certain plan.

Can you let me know if this works for you:
1. From your Square Item Library, find the item you would like to duplicate and select the ‘•••’ button.
2. Click Duplicate from the dropdown menu.
I just tested this on my account - please let me know how you go!

It feels pretty sneaky to offer basic, required features under the free plan and then tear that out from underneath people.
Enticing business owners to overhaul their previous setup to go with Square (often taking a huge amount of labour and effort) and then forcing them to pay for basic features after they're essentially locked-in leaves a VERY bad taste in people's mouths.
It doesn't, because it now requires a 'Plus' subscription that I don't have (I don't need any of the other features so the $100 a month price tag isn't justified for the small benefits it does bring) - however shifting features from free to paid feels underhand.
I assume if duplication works for you, you have a Retail Plus subscription?

Thanks BH97 - that works, so it's only the (...) menu functionality from the item library list that has changed. I can indeed still duplicate when an item is open, so hopefully a bug. It's an inconvenience of extra clicks to open before duplicating, but not worth subscribing to solve. Thanks for spotting that!
I've also noticed that the ability to create new items has disappeared from our Square Register (or has it been moved?). This does now feel like some of the standard features are being stripped out. Can we have an update from Square about what has changed so we don't have to discover by ourselves what we can no longer do?
