Does the square register recognise price embedded barcodes?

Hey, 

I am opening a deli and will need to be wrapping and labelling products such as cheese. Ideally I would like to be able to print a price embedded barcode with each cheeses SKU so that upon scanning via the square register the price for each variable weighted cheese is recognised/calculated. 

I have a read about it on the Square US sellers community but have not been able to find any information relating to their Australian products. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to our Seller Community! Thanks for writing in. 

At this time, Square doesn't integrate with scales that generate embedded barcodes that can be scanned at the Point of Sale during checkout.

As a workaround, you could consider connecting a compatible scale, such as the  CAS PD-2 USB scale. Keep in mind this scale is currently compatible with the Point of Sale app on Square Stand, Square Terminal with Hub and Android devices only. Learn more about connecting this scale to POS here.

We're looking to incorporate additional features such as this and I have shared your request with our product team to see if we can support this in the future.

Hi, I’m unsure were to go with this question.

I’m looking to set up a barcode scanner to scan variable priced barcodes from our butchery prepackaged.
How do I do this?

We’ve got a 13 digit UPC, here is the example below

First letters 02 next is a 4 digit PLU number and the remaining 7 digits include price.

I’ve entered it into our excel spreadsheet and uploaded all the individual UPC as below with the remaining 7 digits as 0000000 because it’s not possible to predict that price point?

This is a feature request we're currently tracking - I've merged your post to this thread where we're keeping track of this suggestion. Thank you for adding your voice and letting us know this is something you'd like to see available in the Australian market.

Not sure if I am able to help you here, BUT i run a Bluetooth scanner on my POS (retail brick and mortar) and we link the existing product's bar codes to store items as they come in. 

SO, when an order comes in, we will bring the item up in the system (through the items menu) 

Scroll down to the GTIN section, and select that window. 

From there we scan the barcode and it syncs with that item in the system.

Then when we scan that barcode it will link to that product. If there are multiple products with the same barcode - for example perhaps different colours of that product, we cant link all of them together and then just select the correct item as it is scanned.
