Do I need a seperate location and inventory for a one time "pre-sale pop up event"?

We have retail stores with three locations. We occasionally do events throughout the summer months. We generally like to offer a pre-sale with pickup day of option for these types of events. Am I correct in that I am going to need to pay for a separate location for each of these events and assign them inventory to allow for pre-sales?

@PRIRETAIL Assuming you have it set up as a required modifier, this will force customers to select something.  From your Orders screen on your POS, if you select an order to view then all of the modifiers will show up on the order details screen.  See screen shot from my POS below.

Hi there @PRIRETAIL.  So the answer depends on the complexity of your situation.  If all you need to do is pre-sales that are assigned to a pickup location, you COLULD just create a modifier set with the locations as modifiers.  Then you could attach it to your items, and require “one and only one” selection before an item is added to your cart.  Yes, depending on the number of items you have, that could take a while.  But thankfully, Square item management has a feature that allows you to attach a new modifier set to one item and then apply that exact configuration to multiple other items.  Anyway, this would allow you to keep using only one Square location.

However, if you need to do full inventory and reporting control by location then, yes, you will have to set up more locations.  If you aren’t, then your satellite locations can just sign into the particular location(s) you already have set up and are paying for.

THANK YOU!! I just ran a test this will work perfectly for our situation. I am not sure how it comes out on the order confirmation end. Hopefully, it clarifies the modifiers. 🙂

You’re welcome.  Let’s explore your last sentence, though.  What, exactly, do you mean by “it clarifies the modifiers?”

Also, if you are concerned about how it looks to the customer, create yourself a private coupon code that is 100% discount.  I call mine “ChipTest” and use it when I want to see the process the customer goes through.  Once you’re done testing, you can just “refund/return” any of those test transctions.

On the ORDERS page will it show that they have selected this particular "modifier"?
