Discounts not working at all 'Retail' app

The first time i've tried to do a discount today, and struggled found the answer with a quick google but, the actual 'discount' is not working, I had to adjust the price in the end.

Wanted - 'price match' the ability to to discount by whatever amount is necessary.

I have gone into items - Discounts - Create Discount -set name- Amount Type -> Variable Amount - Save

Right so I go to use the said discount, select the product go to basket, select item and click 'apply discount'

But no Discounts are listed, just says "no matching discounts found"

Hey @CampingMan! Thank you for your post, happy to help you out with your discounts.

Just to clarify - are you hoping to create a discount and then apply it at checkout when processing a payment on the Square for Retail App? Or are you trying to create a discount cod for your customers to input during checkout on your website? 

If possible, can you share some screenshots of what you are seeing on the Retail App vs. your discounts when creating them on your dashboard?
