Best way to manage variations/options

I'm setting up a menu on my square POS and I'm trying to find the best way to organize the options without creating a million variations. For example, I'm offering a sandwich with 3 spice levels and 3 side options. Adding these as options ends up creating 9 variations which is messy, especially when I have some items that would have up to 30 variations.

Is there no way to do drop downs for options? 30 variations on one item is crazy.

@m80chicken Doing foods, I would work with more modifiers than options.  I only use options for soup of the day combos and wings with sauces on specials.  But mainly I would do a modifier that is pick 1 with the 3 spice levels.  You can do it for the side options same way.  The only issue I have with that is that it is not as clean if you use the KDS for all day counts.  If you don't this will limit the variations you have to deal with.  And you can share modifiers accross items etc.
