We have a string Custom Item called Publisher which is not being displayed for items in the new input screen.
Fortunately, it seems that the existing values haven't been lost, because I can Filter by Custom Attribute ... Publisher and select a value and the item is still listed.
Please make them visible! They're very important for us and I'm sure many others.
Can I also suggest that a Bug Section is created here - there doesn't seem to be one?
