I am looking to add a field at checkout that lets customers tell me by whom they were referred. This seems like a very simple request and I even paid for the custom website feature just for that purpose because it isn't available for free.
HI, you can have a text box "Allow customer to leave note to seller". Online Dashboard, Settings, Checkout, upper right Advanced Settings.

Just out of curiosity, if I were your customer, how would I even get to the site to pay? Would I use the square app link that you'd provide?
