add a modifier to a variation

I'd like to add a modifier to just two of six variations. For example, we have root beer on tap and the variations are 5oz, 10oz, 15oz, crowler(32oz can), meowler(32oz glass), and growler(64oz glass). I want to add a modifier to the meowler 1)customer has glassware $0 or 2)customer needs glassware $4.  And I would want to another modifier to the growler variation 1)customer has glassware $0 or 2)customer needs glassware $6. Is this possible? Or is there another way? It's important for the online store that the customer can't buy the liquid product without something to put it in.

Modifier sets are applied to all variations of an item. You'll need to create Meowler and Growler as a separate items to apply glassware modifiers options to them.

I would also love to attach modifier sets to the variant and not just to the item. Can I second this request? We have drink items, size variations, then modifier/ add ons. I would like a user friendly way to charge different amounts of add ons based on the variant / size that they buy. For example item is Latte, variant is 12oz 16oz and 20oz, modifier add on is Breve which I would like to charge different amounts for since 20 oz uses a lot more half n half. Currently I can either make an item for each size of each drink, which is crazy, or have a massive list of modifiers for employees to scroll through 12oz breve 16oz breve 20oz Breve, which easily leads to incorrect charges. If the modifiers could be attached to a variant it would all be a lot more stream-lined.

+ 1 for enhancement that allows creating variation specific modifier sets. I'm surprised this isn't a more common request. 

My scenario is as follows:

Item: Sandwich
Variations: Regular, Large
Modifier Set: Sandwich Extras
Modifier Set Modifiers: Add Cheese, Add Avocado

The issue is that the modifier amounts will vary based on the selected variation. For example, Add Cheese to a Large Sandwich will cost more than Add Cheese to a Regular Sandwich. I'd like to be able to create two modifier sets, Large Sandwich Extras and Regular Sandwich Extras, each with the same modifiers but with different prices, and configure them in a way that only the former is available when the Large variation is selected and only the latter is available when the Regular variation is selected.
