Why would my brand new square register turn off and not turn back on. It is currently unusable

Hi @Tracey8 - I'm sorry to hear this - this is not expected behaviour. 

 

The first step is to make sure your device is connected to power - if possible see if plugging it into a different power outlet helps. 

 

If we can rule out that it's not a charging issue, try the following: 

 

  1. Press firmly on the Square Register power button for 20-30 seconds, located underneath the main screen. A screen with a countdown from 10 is going to appear, but keep pressing the power button until the countdown runs down to zero.
  2. Once it reaches zero, you will get a screen asking you to release the power button.
  3. Once the screen goes dark, leave the Square Register for 2-3 minutes before turning it back on.
