Why does the shipping that was charged on our online store not show up in my transaction detail report since Square charges fees on that amount? Also we are using Shippo so our cost is different than what is charged so I need to know if the difference is income or expense.
Hi @olwallc. I'm not sure why that is not included in transaction reports. Are you printing labels from within your Square Online overview page, or do you handle making labels directly at Shippo?
When we recieve an order, I go into my orders and request to print the label from the order. It then takes me to Shippo where I actually print the label.
When I print the Transaction list it includes the shipping amount in the total for that transaction, but when I print the items detail it does not include a separate line item for shipping.
It would take some order comparison, but you can export shipments from your Shippo account and compare those to orders within Square Online.
Yes, I do go to Shippo to find out how much I PAID for shipping, what I need to know is how much I CHARGED for shipping. So that I can either claim income if I overcharged for shipping or I have to claim an expense if I didn't charge enough.
There is no way to charge EXACTLY what shipping costs when a customer orders, so we have to estimate the charge at the time of purchase.
When we first started with Square On-Line, the Transaction Detail report used to include shipping charge entries separate from the item(s) purchased, it no longer does. WHY!
The shipping amount charged to a customer is shown if you click on an order in Square Online > Orders; I checked a few orders and see shipping charges listed there. I don't see that you have any rates set up, though. Did you remove those? You might want to consider setting up real-time shipping, which can really help you mitigate over or under-charging for shipping.
