You shouldn't need any additonal storage if you're using the iPad to to process payments with Square, and connecting supported hardware too.
This Support Center article has list of iPads that are suppored with Square Point of Sale and if you're planning to use Square Stand, this is a list of iPads that are compatible with Stand.
There is also a compatibility website where you can double check if that specific iPad is supported.
