Hey folks, if you're shipping via UPS and haven't looked at your invoices recently, I highly suggest you do. Square is not validating addresses correctly with UPS, and you will be charged an exorbitant fee every time UPS tries to correct the address themselves after the package has shipped. Every time this happens, all of my profits for the sale are completely erased.
Square isn't directly responsible for this charge, but their failure to correctly validate with UPS means it is their fault. It's already a headache that Square accepts P.O. Boxes, which UPS doesn't, so I need to call every customer who tries to ship to one of those. Now I have to run every shipping address through UPS manually just to be safe, which defeats the purpose of shipping with Square Online.
In short, Square does not correctly validate shipping addresses with UPS, and you will need to validate shipping addresses some other way unless you can just eat the expensive correction charge. Please fix this, Square.
Hello @Floydman,
Oh no! I am not aware of this being a current issue with Square Online shipping. I hate that you are manually having to do work. I would like to gather some more information to better assist. Is this issue just happening with PO Boxes? How long has this been going on?
