*UPDATED*Loyalty Program Rewards Earning Behavior

I'm a website designer working with clients that have Square Online stores.

Two days ago, I opted into the Loyalty Program free trial so I could test its features on Square Online.

In the Loyalty settings, I set "Earning Points" rule to 1 point for every $1 spent in a single transaction.

I created a test item with several price variations – $1, $1.01, $1.50 $2

I placed multiple orders for the test item on a Square Online store that I have setup for testing.

A single purchase for $1, a single purchase for $1.01, a single purchase for $1.50, and a single purchase for $2.

I observed that Loyalty points were earned after a single purchase of $1.50 and a single purchase of $2.

I observed that Loyalty points were NOT earned after a single purchase of $1 and a single purchase of $1.01.

Have any sellers experienced similar rewards behavior?

Does anyone have input as to why one reward point was not earned for all the single purchases of $1 or more?

And, why was just 1 point earned for the $2 single purchase?

Screenshots are attached for reference.

I appreciate any insight or advice regarding this topic!

I have reviewed the single purchase sales details in the POS.

Each item was created with "sales tax included."

If sales tax is excluded from each order total, this would explain a reward behavior that applies points to net item amount.

For example, the $2 single purchase order includes 15¢ sales tax, for a net item value of $1.85, resulting in only 1 loyalty point awarded.

So, I think I now understand the Loyalty system with better clarity.

Hope this information is helpful to other sellers 🙂
