Tax rate override

My business is located in an unincorporated part of the city, so it has a different sales tax rate compared to most places in the same city/zip code.  I offer local pickup for online orders, and Square charges the (higher) within-city limits tax rate for pickup orders, instead of the outside-city limits rate. I know it doesn't make a big difference in what the customer pays, but it does bother my accountant brain.

Is there any way to override the tax rate for pickup orders?

Hi @BTBC_boss.  I’m right there with you and your “accountant brain.” Little things like this keep me awake at night, even though they probably shouldn’t.  Ha.

Anyway, you can override online sales taxes by going to your Dashboard -> Online -> Shared Settings -> Sales Taxes.  What I’d recommend doing is going to the section “Item level tax rates” and toggling on “Apply item level taxes to pickup orders.” This will have the effect of using the tax definitions that are on your POS (which I assume are correctly calculating) to online pickup orders.

Hopefully, that does what you want.
