Survey email to receive processing fee credits

Has anyone else received an email from "[email protected]" with the subject: Give Square your feedback for Free Processing Credit?

 

I received an email with that subject on 05/08/2025, and used the link in the email to complete the survey on the same day.

 

On 06/27/2025, we still had not received any processing credits, so I reached out to Square by sending an email online.

 

I received a response from an agent from "Square Customer Success" the same day.

The agent informed me that the email was a spoof and that any communications from Square would come from their official email address "[email protected]"; and they encouraged me to report the email as spoof for investigation.

 

I replied to the agent's email and explained that the survey email was not a spoof email and that it was in fact delivered from Square's office email "[email protected]". In my reply, I attached the original email from Square and inquired about when to expect the processing credits.

 

The agent's response in their next email was "While I'd love to assist you further, my resources are limited in this area. I kindly recommend reaching out to our live sales team support, who will be able to provide you with the most accurate information regarding the time frame for receiving the processing fee credits." The agent went on to ask me to CALL  the support team at 855-700-6000.

 

It really sounds to me like @Square wants their customers to complete the survey, to obtain data for marketing or whatever other purposes, but then they don't want to honor their offer to provide free processing credits.
