Square plastic gift cards

The pricing for the plastic gift cards is absolutely insane.
Theres fees just to load it, swipe it and everything in between.
75 gift cards (cheapest custom ones) is about $100. But then shipping is $50!!!!! How does this make sense!?!? I get that a third party handles the shipping— but make it make sense.
For the amount of money that square makes off of me (monthly subscription cost & cc sales) these cards should be free.
I am now exploring other options for my business & may just leave square all together.

Came here to say the same… yes, the physical cards went down about 20¢ but then they added loading fees & eCard’s shipping has doubled since last year. So when a customer buys a $10 gift card from my small shop, right out the gate (card, shipping, loading fee, payment processing if paid by card) it costs me $2.09 - if they pay cash, it costs me $1.68…. Not really beneficial for our situation 😞

Is there a way to sell gift cards where the code is printed on the receipt?

Here in Spain, we do not have physical gift cards, but we do have egift cards. The thing with the E gift cards is that the receiver gets the email with a barcode which can also be put into Apple wallet, for example, but my register scanner can’t read those off of the phone screen. It would also be nice to have some sort of physical receipt of the code for those who want to actually hand something to someone.
