Square / Weebly clarification

I, and many others I imagine, find it confusing when people refer to Weebly. Could someone please explain the current relationship between Square Online and Weebly. Are they one and the same? If not, what is different. Please clarify, thank you.

I can't answer the question but oh god it's confusing! 

I think Square bought Weebly & that now powers all the Square stores, as well as the legacy weebly customer base. 

But when we try & talk about 'online dash' do we mean the Square online dashboard or the online website dashboard that's headlined as weebly 😂😂

Hi @tonydow and @Sam_400º, I can definitely sympathised! 

If you created a website by signing into your Square account > Online, these would be called Square Online site. We would use Square Online site or Square Online store to refer to any website that has the domain .square.site.

However, there are sites and accounts that were created prior to Square purchasing Weebly and often these sites are not connected to a Square account/still use a different interface/is a blog, and we would refer to these as Weebly accounts since they function a bit differently from Square site. 

I hope this help somewhat! I know I myself try to refer everything from Square rather than Weebly, but if there are any unclear information or confusion, please do let me know!

@tranguyen My site was created entirely in Square. From the Dashboard, when clicking Online it flashes up weebly.com before changing to squareup.com and then square.online

As i say, it just flashes up so not a big thing but it does add to the confusion over who I am dealing with.

Thanks for letting me know @tonydow! The Square Online site are currently powered by Weebly so when it loads up, there are mention of Weebly there. I know our team are working to make the flow more seamless so I'll definitely share this feedback with them.
