Some additional Tools and Functionality Needed

I'm trying to find out if Square have plans to add additional basic functionality to the current online offering to help improve our selling and ultimately sales.

 

We are very keen to continue to use Square but we are under increasing pressure from our marketing and creative teams to seek greater levels of functionality from our website which are not currently available.

 

Issues raised

* No ability to upsell and or cross-sell

* Better design aspects such as mega menus

* Improved gifting functionality

 

Is this something that could be raised with the appropriate persons within Square. If we are seeing this as an issue I'm sure others users will be too.

And thank you for this valuable feedback. I understand that the market for small businesses is extremely competitive at the moment and the economic situation is not the best, so thank you for sticking with us! 

 

I'm happy to share your suggestions. 

 

We do have ways to upsell/cross-sell with Square Online, I'll leave some tips below.

- In Square Online, you can enable cross-selling to display other frequently purchased items on the Order Online ordering page. To enable cross-selling for Order Online:

  1. From your Square Online site editor, open the Order Online page.
  2. In the editing panel, select Item list > Details lightbox.
  3. Tick the box to enable cross-selling.
  4. Publish your site to see the changes live.

When a customer views an item’s details, they’ll see other suggested items with the option to add them to the basket. This is a helpful tool for encouraging larger basket sizes. 

 

Mega menus look to be in the works - so we'll share any future updates that come up! 

 

Please let me know what you have in mind for the improved gifting functionality.

Hi @Breffni, thank you for the suggestions. I'm just trying to find the order online page, not sure if I'm going a little crazy with the recent hot weather but I can't seem to see the order online page, is this specific to a certain template?

 

Mega menus would be great, hopefully they will land soon as our menus are looking big, cumbersome and aesthetically awful getting. Help here would be great to see.

 

Gifting functionality is a missing aspect. Its something that has been rumbling on the forums for years. Our customers complain that at checkout there is no place to add a gift message, or for us to offer a gift wrap service. Currently there is a function online but it adds the gift options at the item level, which I can see working for some businesses. We have two scenarios, one where a customer would like to buy multiple gifts and send to multiple recipients in one single basket transition, this could require the customers to add a sub-basket and attach the item and address and gift message. Little more complex but done by some companies (we had a customer order 15 gifts for separate recipients/addresses and he had to do 15 separate transitions (not a happy chappy). The second, currently we can attach one address to the basket for delivery purposes, it would make more sense for us in this case to enable the gifting functionality to be at check out, as when at the item level, customers request gift message cards left right and centre and when we did at the item level we could sometimes have 5 or 6 gift message card attached to one order (to me, the idea of a gift is to order a gift/items, add a gift message card and send direct to the recipients address). Hope this makes sense 🙂

 

The above is my interpretation but some improvements in some form would be a lot better than we have currently. Might be worth putting out to the Super Seller group for feedback.

 

Just wanted to share with you a screen shot to show the cart of a local online seller to us. Shows you the upselling at the checkout and the little free shipping progress bar at the top is a great way to get customers to see how far off they are from free shipping coupled with the 'you may also like' encourages customers to fill the basket and buy more. These kind of things we need to help us and would make us look more professional and encourage greater basket values. I will also pop this on Ideate, you never know! 🙂

I would love to see a better roadmap for the online improvements and integration of weebly platform with square POS.

 

On online alone I was initially very impressed with some of the design thinking that had gone into some of the workflow and features over the other global player I dumped at quick notice. However I have found some poor coding and functionality which must be obvious to any solution engineer needs improvement. 

 

On integration with Square thought its releatively good there is some obvious overlap and awkward integration that needs ironing. It just needs a designer to look at the overall picture and suggest obvious improvements. 

 

Yeserday I got yet another ridicuolous email of a "social media friendly" feature release, apparently I can now have a picture cover on my POS. I could not care less. What I want is better working software for the price permium I am paying over traditional merchant processing accounts. I paid Square £3k last year and another £200 for website which is 2.5K over a traditional merchant account, what I want is better software but a company that understands that demonstrating development roadmaps is something good tech companies do. 

 

Starting to get itchy feet.
