It takes time, patience and creativity. Most important, if you currently are employed - don't quit. Start out simple with your web site design, make sure that your layout is easy to navigate and ensure any links you have work. This allows you make improvements along the way. Get feedback from friends and family - you would be surprised as not everyone is thinking the same as you. Most important, just having a web site does not bring in customers - they have to find you. Take advantage of Social Media - you can do quite a bit of marketing for free, think Yelp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Flicker, YouTube, Vimeo, Google Maps, Bing Maps, etc. The more ways someone can find you the better.
