Show custom unit as one item in checkout page?

Hi,

We sell gasoline along with other items and use a custom unit, Gallon, for the gas. When we create a Square Payment Link for the customer, it shows, at the top, "x items" where x includes the number of gallons.

Example:

I purchase 20 gallons of gas and 1 can of sunscreen. That is really only 2 items. But, the checkout page in this case, (created by the Create Square Link API), will show:

"Order Summary (21 Items):"

Is there any way to change this?

Hey @ChrisBurgdorff.  Interesting.  I’m not sure the Square checkout links was created with the idea that someone might use it like you do.  It was created with physical/distinct items in mind, not things like gallons of gas, or pounds of ground beef, etc.  For now, what you see is the way it is and there is nothing I know of that will allow you to change it.  If you want Square to consider giving sellers the option to customize that checkout page, you’ll need to head over to the Ideate Board and submit a feature request.
