Shipping fee for plastic gift cards

I am wondering why the shipping fee (FedEx) for the plastic gift cards is so high. It's $50+ for the basic 20 cards.  Over $100 for shipping 75 custom cards, bringing the total to well over $250 for the 75 cards. That's not reasonable at all.  I realize egift cards are an option but a majority of my customers have requested a physical card to gift, which to me is reasonable.
