Setting up platters or packages that track sales of individual items in the package

Hi there,

We offer 7 different meats that are sold in a variety of different ways:

by the pound

in a sandwich

in a platter

How do I set up sandwiches and platters so that Square itemizes what was sold in each for reports?

For instance, if someone buys 1 pound of brisket I can easily see in our report that I sold 1 pound of brisket. BUT if I sell a Brisket on a Bun I'd like the system to show that I sold 7 oz of Brisket per sandwich or 8 pounds of Brisket, 8 pounds of pulled pork, 14 sausages (etc) in a platter.

 Is this possible?

Hey @TexasBBQbc,

Welcome to the Community!

In Square, you can set up your menu items, including sandwiches and platters, to accurately track what was sold in each for reporting purposes.

To achieve the level of detail you mentioned, you can use the following options:

  • Variations: Create variations for the meats you offer (e.g., Brisket, Pulled Pork, Sausages). You can specify the weight or quantity as variations (e.g., 7 oz, 8 lbs) and price.
  • Modifiers: Set up modifiers to account for different ways the items are sold (e.g., sandwiches and platters). Create modifiers for "On a Bun" and "Platter."

You can learn how to set up variations and modifiers here

If I didn't meet your expectations, please inform me, and I'll be happy to further assist.
