This has to do with the way Variations work.
Variations essentially function as completely separate Items, nested into a group.
This allows individual inventory numbers and other control.
When they get imported over to Facebook, they essentially break out of the Group and into their own separate items.
As to solutions for it - I just go into my Facebook Shop and delete all but one, so it's a smoother experience for the customer, and it just opens up the Square Online Store anyway. But as soon as any of those items (names or prices) are edited on Square, if you have Square Sync enabled, it just resyncs and repopulates all of them into Facebook again.
