Online Store Recommended Background Image Size

Hello, I'm trying to add a custom image to the background of my main online store listing. I am able to load images in using the "Item List > Section Style" settings but every image I load in seems to get blown up, like it's zoomed in too much. I can make the image any size I need it to be but I can't find any recommendations for what size should work.

I've tried 5000x5000, 7000x7000, 2550x3300 and a few others higher and lower. None seem to translate well to the page. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime, I guess I'll going by trial and error and see what I can make work. Thanks in advance.

UPDATE: I increased my "image" size to 5400x6988 but left my actual image the same size as before (2550x3300) and centered. It sort of worked except the top and bottom of my item list is empty. Which brings up another issue: if a user selects to list more items per page, does the background keep repeating, or is that really why it gets blown up, to allow for more listings without repeating? Thanks again.

UPDATE: after lots of tinkering I made an image that 4500 x 14400 that seems to fit the page well without any unwanted zooming or scaling.

For context, I wanted brand logos to pepper the edges of the item list screen without getting cut off by the items them selves. I managed to arrange things to there are two columns at the edges and a blank gap in the middle (slightly offset due to the selected layout).

Anyway, I hope this info is helpful to someone else in the future. For the folks are Square/Weebly, it would be great to have some general guidelines for image and logo sizing for use in backgrounds, headers, footers, etc. Thanks. All the best to everyone.
